SECTION XVIII

GENERAL DEFINITIONS

AREA AGENCY ON AGING AND INDEPENDENT LIVING (AAAIL) – The AAAIL is the

local agency designated by the Governor of Kentucky under the provisions of Title III of the Older Americans Act to provide planning and administer funds received under Title III for a given planning and service area. The AAAIL also administers funding under the Kentucky Homecare Program, and Adult Day Services for the service area. LCADD is the designated AAAIL for the Lake Cumberland service area.

AREA PLAN – The plan submitted by the Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living for approval by the Kentucky Department of Health and Family Services, Department for Aging and Independent Living of which provides for payment of funds under contract for the delivery of Aging Services.

LCADD SERVICE AREA – The LCADD counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, McCreary, Pulaski, Taylor, Russell and Wayne located in the State of Kentucky.

MAY – means permissive. However, the words "no person may . . . . . "means that no person is required, authorized, or permitted to do the act prescribed.

NAPIS – At which time the National Aging Program Information System (NAPIS) requires the use of a specific reporting system the LCADD will require service providers to be compatible with this reporting system. Until that time, the LCADD will continue to develop and format reports to be used by service providers in order to meet these Federal requirements

DAIL/OAS/DAS – Office of Aging Services and Division of Aging Services refer to the state agency responsible for state wide aging services. During FY’99, the former Division became the Office of Aging Services; in 2007, the Office became the Department for Aging and Independent Living. For the purpose of these proposals these terms are interchangeable.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS – All documents, whether attached or incorporated by reference, utilized for soliciting proposals in accordance with the procedures set forth in governing procurement procedures.
